Meet the Church Staff

Bruce Ware

Minister of Music

At an early age, Bruce's gift in the area of music was manifested. He began playing for churches at the age of ten and went on to study music at Columbus College (now Columbus State University) in Columbus, GA. In 1990, he transferred to the University of Georgia where he studied Music Composition with a concentration in oboe.

Bruce has been on staff at Timothy since January 1, 2000. Currently he serves as the Minister of Music, head of the music department, and works closely with the Worship Arts Ministry. His purpose is to be a blessing to the Kingdom of God, and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through music.

Elder Terris Thomas

Assistant to the Pastor / Director of Education

Terris D. Thomas was licensed to preach in June 1995 and ordained as Elder February 1999. She currently serves as Assistant to the Pastor at Timothy Baptist, Director of Neighborhood Engagement with Family Connection - Communities In Schools in Athens, and Chaplain with Marketplace Ministries assigned to both Pilgrim's Pride and Waynes Farm Poultry. She is also the Director of Camp Timothy, a community summer camp hosted on the TBC Campus.

“Elder T," holds a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Education from Beulah Heights University, graduating Summa Cum Laude as Valedictorian, a Masters of Arts Degree in Christian Education from Luther Rice University and a Masters of Science Degree in Youth Development from Clemson University.

Lennea Lawson

Director of Media Ministry

Lennea Lawson (Lenny) joined Timothy Baptist Church in 2003. He accepted a position on the media ministry team in 2010 and after 2 years he was promoted to the Director of the Media Ministry. At Timothy, Lenny loves supporting the kingdom through service.

Sam Heard

Head Custodian

Sam Heard has served as the Head Custodian at Timothy Baptist Church since 2008. He is also employed by Advantage Behavioral Health in Athens, GA as their Head Janitor since 2018 and worked for Home Goods in Jefferson, GA as Head Janitor for 6 years. Sam is a proud United States Veteran and served in the National Guard from 1981-1987. 

Deaconess Elishiba Hunter

Executive Assistant

Elishiba Hunter joined Timothy Baptist Church in 2005. She currently serves in the Deaconess Ministry, being ordained in November 2018 and also serves as a Coordinator for the Women's Ministry. Elishiba studied at Luther Rice College & Seminary, where she majored in Religion. She holds a degree in Business from University of Phoenix, graduating Magna Cum Laude and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from University of Phoenix, graduating Summa Cum Laude.

Elishiba is a member of Sigma Beta Delta, an International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration. She was blessed to join the Timothy Baptist Church staff in 2011 as an Office Assistant and was promoted to Executive Assistant in 2012. She is also a Notary Public for the State of Georgia. Elishiba completed the Minister's in Training Program on November 13, 2022. Her purpose is to be a blessing to the Kingdom of God with the spiritual gift of administration, as stated in 1 Corinthians 12:28. Her motto for life is: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength, (Mark 12:30).

Deaconess Patricia Jordan

Director of Food Service

Patricia Jordan joined Timothy Baptist Church in 2014 and immediately became an active member on the Usher Ministry. She is currently serving as The Director of Food Services at Timothy. She is retired from The University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education and Hotel where she worked for 37 years as the Catering and Banquet Manager.

Patricia received the Award for Excellence from The University of Georgia in 1998, a Certification in Hospitality, a Certificate in Management and a Certification in Service Heroes in Hospitality from UGA as well. In 1996 She completed courses from The School of Helps Ministry at Salem Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA, and received her Diploma in 1997.

Patricia’s purpose is to be a servant leader that blesses the body of Christ through serving with excellence. Her favorite scripture is “And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” (Galatians 6:9)

Elder Karen Wideman

Administrative Assistant

Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Karen was led to attend services at Timothy Baptist Church. Through several worship experiences, she quickly knew within her heart that she had found a church to call home. Shortly after attending services, Karen joined Timothy in 2011. Upon joining; she became a Coordinator of the Women’s Ministry while later becoming active in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry.

Karen joined the staff at Timothy Baptist Church in 2017 as an Administrative Assistant. She is also a SNAP Outreach Neighborhood Leader with Family Connection - Communities In Schools in Athens, GA. Karen completed a two-year program for Minister’s in Training where she furthered her studies in the Word of God. Following the completion of her training, she preached her Initiatory Sermon and was licensed on February 21, 2017. Karen was ordained as an Elder on February 9, 2020. With a desire to learn more, she also enrolled in classes at Athens College of Ministry. Her sole purpose is to please God and her motto for life is:“Don’t just exist...Live Life!”

Myles Cutter

Director of Social Media

Myles Cutter is in his second year as an Entertainment and Media Studies Major with a Minor in Film Studies at the University of Georgia. He is originally from Savannah, Georgia. Myles is also very active on campus with the Redcoat Marching Band, Black Male Leadership Society and other activities. As the son of a pastor, he was involved in music, live streaming, photography and many more activities at his home church. After college he hopes to begin his career in the film industry through becoming a cinematographer, with an ultimate goal of being a film director. When he came to Timothy Baptist Church, he wanted to find a place where he could experience what it was like to be with a body of believers away from home. 

Jordan Story

Head Videographer

Jordan Story is a videographer/photographer based out of Athens, Georgia. He and his family have been a part of Timothy Baptist Church for many years. Jordan's been involved in aiding various ministries throughout his time at Timothy. He became a part of his first ministry by serving as a Junior Deacon which ended after highschool. Years later, Jordan developed an interest in videography and social media which quickly turned into a deep passion. He was given the opportunity to join the Media Ministry where he currently serves as the head videographer. Jordan loves being able to serve and spread the mission of Timothy Baptist Church with the gifts that God has blessed him with.
